jac asked:
I need to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy, and looking for free information on the web about the laws and how one would file on their own without a lawyer. I have heard of normal people filing their own bankruptcy, but I don’t know where to begin. Search engines seem to lead nowhere and I’m just looking for some great public interest web sites.

lisa f asked:
My husband received a bill the other day in the mail for 2 hospital bills from 2002 and 2003. They were before our bankruptcy and we didn’t file these as main creditors on our bankruptcy. Can they legally try to collect on these two things or are all things covered once our bankruptcy was filed? Thanks for any info.

I filed bankruptcy a couple years ago. This bankruptcy has been discharged. However my ex wife co signed on a loan for a vehicle while we were married. I filed the bankruptcy after the divorce. It has been discharged and I am free of this debt. My ex wife wants to take me to civil court for this loan because since I filed bankruptcy they then came after her the co signer. Is she able to sue me for this and win?

pshao01 asked: What prevents a company from borrowing a ton of money, spending it all, declaring bankruptcy, and never paying back its creditors?
Details: say the CEO gets a huge “salary” (this is actually borrowed money), buys himself a bunch of toys, then declares bankruptcy and never repays the money. What is the punishment for said CEO?

Chad S asked: Are there any lawyers out there who practice bankruptcy who could tell me how difficult it would be to start a solo bankruptcy practice and how I might go about doing this. First, is this the kind of think that I could figure out with form books and software or should I work in a firm first? Also, could I mainly do Chapter 7’s or do I really need to do all kinds to stay afloat? Any helpful info by experienced bankruptcy lawyers would be greatly appreciated! I’m licensed in Mississippi if that helps.
