file bankruptcy

I just went to bankruptcy court; my house was foreclosed on and the irs sent me a 1099C form. Since I filed bankruptcy, and the mortgage was included in that bankruptcy, do I need to file the 1099C form when I file my taxes?

your bankruptcy attorney has the specifics for this. answer depends on the detailed causes for issuing the 1099c.

IRS does not send 1099Cs, creditors do. I would attach a statement that you have not included the discharge of indebtedness income because of bankruptcy along with a copy of the face sheet of your petition.
